Bela Padilla Raises P3.3 Million In 2 Days To Help Street Vendors

ABS-CBN actress Bela Padilla said her crowdfunding efforts for the street vendors in Manila has raised P3.3 million.

Last month, Kapamilya actress Bela Padilla started her online fundraising “Pagkain Para sa Pinoy” for the street vendors affected by the community quarantine in Metro Manila. She aims to provide help for them since they won’t be able to earn enough money amid the coronavirus crisis.

Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has implemented tougher measures to combat the spread of the deadly virus from China. On Tuesday, March 12, he placed the country under a state of calamity for 6 months.

In a previous article, Bela Padilla announced on Twitter that she has already raised more than P400,000 for the informal workers in Metro Manila. Countless netizens praised her initiative to help the street vendors.

Bela Padilla said that her target was only P1 million but this morning shared on her Twitter Page that someone donated P2 million to her crowdfunding effort, bringing the total donations to more than P3 million.

“I was just woken up by a call. Somebody donated 2 million pesos. We are now at 3.3M pesos,” she wrote.
